Child Care

Nursery & Preschool

It is important that children are safe and well cared for and that parents are comfortable. Parents are encouraged to take the time to help make their children comfortable and inform the child care providers about any anticipated needs. Tender love and care is provided by two paid child care providers and additional volunteers from the congregation. The nursery and pre-school rooms are equipped for children four and under.

Parenting young children is demanding and just getting to church can be a challenge. Ideally, parents should attend the service and be nurtured by it! However, in reality, sometimes two paid providers are not enough to provide adequate care and volunteers are needed to help. Spending time in the child care rooms provides an opportunity to get to know the regular child care providers, the other children and see what your child experiences. It also provides an opportunity to meet and talk with other parents when they pick-up their children. If you see a need, please take a turn to volunteer to stay and help provide child care. If you sign-up to provide care and it becomes evident after fifteen minutes or so that your help is not needed you may leave and attend the service.

If your child is sick or you have volunteered and are not well, we would prefer that you don’t come and expose others to illness.

During the school year, four year olds who are developmentally ready for structured activities attend the class for 4, 5 and 6 year olds. If a child can sit and be attentive for 10 minutes, take turns and listen, they may be ready for the class. If a child tries the classroom experience and is not ready for it, he or she will be brought back to the preschool room. Teachers strive to provide the best experience possible for all the children in the brief time together on Sunday mornings. Teachers and the DRE are happy to talk with parents and work with children to help provide a positive church experience.

Child care is available from 9:00 to 12:15 all year. During the summer children five and under are welcome. Other children are welcome with child care provider’s permission if circumstances can accommodate them safely.
