Our Ministry:
Religious Growth and Learning for Children & Youth
Worship Services
Children and youth attend the opening rituals in the sanctuary every Sunday morning. The congregation joins together every week to feel a sense of the sacred, be spiritually nurtured and experience ritual. The opening rituals are 15 to 20 minutes and provide an opportunity for children to be in the sanctuary and a part of the church community. On occasion, rites of passage and special events are celebrated at this time with the gathered congregation. After the opening rituals the children, youth and teachers go downstairs to their classes.
Children are encouraged to go to their classroom before the service and attend the opening rituals with their class. However, children may go straight to the sanctuary with their family.
Experiencing an entire worship service monthly is an important part of religious growth and development. Families are strongly encouraged to attend these services together. Intergenerational services are structured to be engaging for all ages. Teachers have no class responsibilities on the Sundays of intergenerational worship services. Child care is available for children five and younger or for slightly older children, with permission, when space allows. Families are welcome to leave the service to take babies or pre-schoolers to child care during the service.
Children, youth and families are encouraged to participate in Intergenerational worship services. You may volunteer to usher, be a greeter, or participate in the service. Please contact Trish Brandon if you are interested.
