Lane Coffee House.
Each month will offer a different type of entertainment,
including blues, folk, dance, and a few surprises.

Shows start at 8:00 pm
| Our July coffee house is “Meet the Stars (Part 1),” featuring four mostly local artists. Friday, July 18, in the Common Room at 8:00 p.m; admission is $5 at the door. Each artist will do a short set of 20-25 minutes. | |
| Dan May is a Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter – with 15 years’ experience singing opera! He left the opera scene five years ago after surgery on his vocal cords and has devoted himself to writing, recording and performing his own folk music. His primary instrument is guitar; his music includes rhythm and blues along with thought-provoking lyrics. | ![]() |
Louis Lynch is a composer, pianist and harpist who founded and directs the Harrisburg Harp Orchestra (performing July 19 – get details from Lou!). He has also recorded an extended play CD, Coyote Run: I’m Coming Home to You with UCH’s perennial favorite, Coyote Run. |

| Shakil Shamji and his band, Confluence, give a new meaning to the term “Indie Rock.” The all-Asian group plays traditional music from North India in addition to <ahem> Indian-based rock music. | |

Brooks
West is a singer/songwriter
from Fargo, North Dakota, now living in Central PA. He was also highly
recommended by several UCH members, so we were happy to book him
for Clover Lane. The son of a mortician and a school teacher, he
has a most unusual outlook on life, which you'll hear reflected in
his music. |

Jamie
O'Brien (acoustic
guitar) is a former member of the board of directors of Susquehanna
Folk, now living
near Tucson. The native-born Irishman writes and sings material blending
traditions from both sides of the Atlantic. Auction includes “vintage” O’Brien
recordings: Launie Tunes (1999) Cara Kelly (fiddle) and Jamie O’Brien (guitar), with a host of Pennsylvania friends My Wild Irish Boy (2004) Traditional songs, learned from family and friends on both sides of the Atlantic, performed by the guitarist and some of his musical friends, including “our own” Henry Koretzky (mandolin) Many's the Mile, Love... Julie Moffitt (piano, guitar) holds a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Combs College of Music, with a minor in Voice. For over thirty years she has performed classical, rock, folk, theater music and background piano in a variety of venues; she also teaches piano, guitar and voice at HACC, where she occasionally also music appreciation, music theory, and the history of rock. Her set will focus on original compositions for voice and guitar; auction includes her newest CD of favorite covers, entitled Cover to Cover (2007)

EvAnn Hawley (accordion, vocals) is Central Pennsylvania’s most
well-known accordionist. She won first prize at the International
Accordion Grand
Prix (1978), then played as the featured accordion soloist with
Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians from 1978 to 1985. For more than
20 years she has provided music and entertainment across the area.
The
auction includes her debut CD: unplugged afternoon (2005) Eleven classic covers, played by the local accordion virtuoso and Hershey-based Moe Weimer (age 19) is a local sensation on the
teen scene, where his gigs are routinely packed with 30 or so young
groupies. We should all be so lucky! Auction includes his debut extended
